Who Or What Is Dictating Your Life

Consider that we are trained since childhood – at home and in school – to be obedient and compliant, to meet and exceed the expectations of others. Add to that our natural competitiveness, and all our attention is focused—and our energy directed— towards satisfying others.

Did you ever stop and ask yourself: who or what is dictating your life?

Of course, we have obligations toward others, the community and the larger collective, but we also have obligations to ourselves.

What makes us so hungry for meaning, purpose, and happiness is the lack of personal fulfillment. You don’t see individuals like Elon Musk, Taylor Swift, or Richard Branson asking existential questions. They found the answers for themselves.
You can’t tear them down; they won’t care about your opinion. The media or commercials don’t influence them; they know better. They and their time are not controlled by others. The rich and accomplished live outside of the system. Do YOU?

Our lives are so predetermined that you don’t even wonder who or what is dictating your life. Start wondering!

If you think about it, our lives are about meeting other people’s expectations and serving time. We have to meet other people’s expectations and comply with the system. We are “given” some freedom only after we become useless, at about 67, when it’s too late to turn our dreams into reality.
